I want to remove the heatsink on my gf4MX, but it is glued/epoxed on, i have left it in the freezer for over 24 hours and im wondering what i need to do to get it off.

you'd need a solvent. Or you could try cutting it off with some dental floss. Don't go nuts though, as you might peel your GPU off while at it.

yea i tryed some acetone, dentel floss, and then some fishing line, and nothing worked at all..... anything else i can do??

I don't think acetone is supposed to dissolve epoxy... try some nitrate acid. It's sold under such commercial titles as "CLR" and "rust-off" or something. Don't go nuts with it, as it will dissolve metal, and other things.

and if that is the case I would not recomend using it on the card...just think of all those metal connectors that will corode in the process...you said you put it in the freezer for a day but did you try to pop the HS off? you do have to be forcefull with it and you will think you are breaking your card but usually it will pop off...I would take a credit card and place between the card and the HS, then use a butter knife and see if you can get the blade between the GPU and HS and then twist....be warned that you can kill your card doing this and if you are not willing to buy a new one if it doesn't come out right don't do it at all

ok i got it off using the creditcard + butter knife... thanks man!
only problem is i scratched the pcb a little... hopefully that didnt kill it...
well its just a geforce 4MX and is basicly just a backup card now that i have a 4200 in my 1900+ system.

At work we use a soldering iron to heat up the heat sinks and the glue will melt and it will come off with a easy twist but be careful and dont let it get to hot or the chip will fry  we also remove heatsinks from CPU's and GPU's like that which have ben glued on with loctite glue
