Crap.

Problem:So I have an Arctic Cooler 3 on my 7900gt and the fan has started making grinding sounds. Easy fix-drop some oil in the axle to lube it right up.

New New problem. To get to the fan I need to disasemble the cooler so I try and take the heatsink off but it's got adhesive pads stuck to all the memory chips. I can't pull off the sink no matter how hard I try.

Now i'm stuck. How the hell do I get this sink off? Damn these thermal pads!

Found a thread addresssing this exact issue but nobody seemed to come up with anything that worked (ie. freezing, soaking in alcohol, heating up-all did zilch.)

nevermind i ended up just cutting the pads off with a knife.fixed the fan too. the thermal pads are mangled but oh well. No more noisy fans.
