Removing stock ATI cooler

I picked up a VGA silencer Rev. 3 for the vid card in my sig. Anyway, for some reason I'm having a b!tch of a time getting the stock cooler off (my TI4200 was much easier). I've tried needle-nose pliers, but I'm having trouble getting a good grip on those pins on the back. I don't want to slip and cut a trace or something. Anyone have any ideas? Is there some special technique?

Dude, lol, don't be afraid. I have hit my graphics card so many times and its still surviving. I've dropped a screw driver on it, i've stepped on it (broke a plastic peice of some sort off), its got a few dents on it. Just don't be scared to push a little hard.

I was having a hard time also, until I just used the pliers like an awl and pushed down on the middle part of the black holders. Came off real easy.

I used some Kelly Forceps when I took mine off. You can pick them up lots of places. Several pairs are always handy to have to holding and clamping small parts. AllHeart has lots of different styles even Radio Shack carries them.

Good idea, those look like they should work alot better than the clunky things I'm using.

It will come off alot easier if you remove the pins that spread the little rivets apart.
pull the pins out on the heatsink side first, then use a needle nose on the back to squeeze and push the plastic rivet out
