Removing rivets

Simple question really, how to you remove/undo the rivets on a PC case? Reason I ask is my g.f's hard drive cage is in the way of me fitting an 8800GTX and I need to remove it.

Also, if I find out there's some other problem with me doing this, where do I get rivets with which to reattach the hard drive cage and how do I fit them back?

Google's fine, but by posting here there's a chance people can share their insights, things that they did wrong the first time, ways around commonly encountered problems etc.

Sometimes the guides you find on google aren't up to the same calibre :)

Home depo, lowes, ace... maybe even wal mart will sell rivets. You'll need a rivet gun to put them in though. a pair or scissor looking things put the right size head on put the rivet in and squezze the handle, it'll pull a little bead through the shaft and make a rivet. You'll hear a loud pop and the part you don;t need will fall out of the gun. :) goodluck, don't hurt her computer. You're ok to hurt. Bandaids are cheap.

One minor thing... make sure the drill bit is going the right way around. Also, make sure it's the right size. Too small and it dunna work.

Sounds stupid, I know. I was drilling out rivets to cannibalise an old case for a mobo tray, and was wondering why the damn drill wasn't cutting. Slowly dawned on me... poor, poor bit.

Also, wear eye protection. They look stoopid, but no one except you is there, and the other choice is the possibility of looking permanently not-looking in front of everyone for the rest of your life.

drill those fuckers out!
