got a few itunes giftcards and began purchasing songs from itunes. noticed that they all are "protected" files. i hate this drm stuff! its my music, i purchased it!

are there any programs that remove this protection?

also, still new to the itunes thing, is there any way to convert these .aac files to .mp3 so i can play on my other players? thanks for the help!

first off, you might wanna watch how you post you questions before you get your threads locked without warning.

second: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1266068 is something that will help you out. also, the search function, since im sure this has been asked like 1.2385x10^22 times already.

finally, the short is this. dont want apple drm, buy itunes plus songs. they are drm free. the only other way to circumvent the drm (leagally, and this is questionable) is to burn the tracks to a cd and then re-rip them.

dont ask about removing drm.

as for converting the files to mp3, i dont think it is possible with drm. if you have itunes plus tracks all you have to do is... ah hell, you already read the other thread posted earlier today on the same topic, right?

i dont really know why you would want to convert the tracks from aac to mp3 unless you have a portable that cant handle aac. in either case, you will be degrading your song quality by re-compressing the aac to mp3. aac codec encoded songs have better sound quality than that of mp3.
