When getting a new motherboard, I will have to remove the old Artic 5 Silver off my heatsink but how would I do this? Would water do it?

If you can buy special compound to remove paste, can you tell me it's name and give me an eBay link?

thanks

high purity rubbing alcohol would suffice, and just use some lint free cloth to rub it off

90% or 99% alcohol can be found in any grocery store or drug store(walgreens, cvs, etc)

I use 99% alcohol, and coffee filters to wipe away the gunk, it works great

its rubbing alcohol.. go to cvs.. its no more than $1 for a bottle of it...

i used q-tips... only cause i though a paper towel might be to rough?

little IT toolbox trick I've recently learned. The pre-packaged alcohol swabs are great too!

they are cheap, and can get them at most drug stores, or the grocery

Or, the local Chemist on the block

(wherever you Brits get your Asprin, headache pills, etc) :p
