hi i have the MSI 6800...the red one with the copper cooler.

i want to remove the copper cooler and put either a NV silencer on it or a self made CPU HSF cooler.

i take out all the screws....nad low and behold the HSF...is like.....thermal glued.....to the ram and GPU.

is there any hints or secrets on getting it off i dont want to just pry and tare at my new 300$ card.

thanks.

I just did mine today.

Once all screws were removed it took a little pressure to pry it off. They used some kind of thermal adhesive (really gummy) to the Ram. The GPU is just thermal paste that was also gummy.

After cleaning the HSF/board up using alcohol and Orange Glo I used some Artic Silver instead.

I think their HSF combo is good quality, but I am not sold on a one piece that can transfer heat bewtween parts. I would prefer the Ram and GPU to be passively cooled separately.

so ur sayin all i have to do is put a little pressure on ti and it wont be that hard to get off?

or is it hard enough to possibly screw my card?
