removing hidden update uninstall files in 2000

in windows 2000 after installing windows updates there are a bunch of hidden files in c:\winnt that are named $ntuninstallkb841533$ etc. is it ok to delete thes files? the updates are not going to be removed so i should be ok right?! there is about 48 of these files taking up about 300mb of hdd space that i could use as its an old laptop with only a 3gb hdd.

They are the uninstall info for hotfixes/patches/service packs. You can safely delete them, but you won't be able to uninstall them through add/remove programs.
