I purchased this removable rack for a HDD http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=50198282&pfp=cat3. However there is no way in hell I can mount it into a 5.25" bay. It comes with 2 holes on each side to mount it to the 5.25" rack area or whatever and even if I could see the holes (which dont line up properly to even see) the screws are so short I doubt they would reach to the holes in the removable rack. Am I doing something wrong or is this just a POS? If it is a POS can I return it to CompUSA at a retail store? And the case is a regular Chieftec Dragon case. TIA

that would be my first take, but not because of the holes not lining up
at that price (and finish) Id have to assume a rather cheap IDE Bridge card and less than Ideal tray to backplane interface, and the thermal solution well
It doesnt look to impressive

the best way to get it returned if you think it needs to be or you want to
is to run ATACT

Or: Why Ribbon Cables are unsuitable for RF transmission of data
The following article was written by snn47 to address some of the issues associated with standard ribbon cables and the use of e.g. removable drive racks as an attempt to share some insight into factors that can adversely affect the life or reliability of of desktop Hard Disk Drives
there are some good racks out there, but that doesnt look like one of them
I created an impressive error log with one of my "cheaper" trays on my RAID array
(luckily it was a redundant array and I was able to resynchronize it)
and it looked sligyht higher quality than that, there really arent that many IDE racks Id consider currently (there alot better options in SCSI)
