I need a good remote desktop program so I can access my home documents from work, any suggestions?
 
My suggestion, eh? How about TightVNC tunneled over SSH.

Or in your case you could just use RDP, not like there is anything wrong with that.
 
I stick with RDP as well. It does what I need, and it's already built in.
 
RDP is much faster/responsive than VNC
not sure about the security tho

RDP not secure? Where do you people get your information from?

RDP protocol provides encryption *natively*.

The only thing you need to be concerned about when using RDP is having a strong password which would be the case no matter what remote login scheme you are using.
 
Indeed, another vote for RDP--much better than VNC especially in a Windows environment. If you're that paranoid, you could combine RDP with SSH or a VPN (XP Pro has built in VPN support). Then you'd have the usual RDP encryption + an extra layer. If, however, you're that paranoid, you're machine shouldn't be connected to the Internet :)

if you want a webbased proggy, you can try the free version of logmein
see logmein.com
its pretty decent.
 
I don't mean to dredge up this somewhat old thread but I figured it'd be better than making a new one.

I really like the free version of Logmein and I'm thinking of talking to my boss about switching our business over to using IT Reach since it looks really nice. Has anyone had experience with that? Whatd you think?

Very curious your newly registered in a few forums just like Hardforums talking about logmein within the past couple months and in each instance the majority of your posts talk about LogMein.

Google betrays your true purpose of posting here.
 
Doh! Why do companies think they have to resort to tactics like this? Can't the product speak for itself? I've used Logmein for quite some time now on all of my own computers, as well as my girlfriend's. It sure saves me a lot of time when I need to access something from work, or troubleshoot a problem she is having. In fact, I used it just a bit ago to start a Xubuntu download on my home computer...
