I need to control my office workstations from the server via remote desktop but i'm having a problem, of the 30 workstations connected to the domain 2 of them have administrator privileges “locally” and the rest are standard users. Whenever i try to connect to any of the standard users using the same user name and password of the logged in account i get a message that says "The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively”.

so what i have to do is to logon with administrator account but this will logoff the user and i don’t want to do this , i can logon interactively on a machines with an administrator account enabled and work on the same desktop they’re using without closing any open window “by just locking the machine” .

Can I enable the same on the standard users accounts?

Thanks

OS in use: Windows XP Pro "workstations"
Windows 2003 "server"

I tried this software before, but for some reason or another dameware mini remote didn’t work on some of the machines "couldn’t connect".

Anyway thanks for the tip.

If your running Windows XP Firewall, you need to enter exceptions in order for Dameware to work.

Xp built-in firewall is disabled on all of the machines.

Alright then...... If you want to use XP Remote Desktop with standard user accounts then you'll need to add the domain users group to the local Remote Desktop Users group on each workstation.

Not sure how long ago you tried Dameware, but you might want to give it another shot since they now have version 5 out. It would certainly be easier and more interactive than RDP.
