Very strange. Normally I would see an error about host responce or such before it does, but now I open RDC, I type in the server, and it flashes and dissapears. This is happening e very time. It's running on a wired LAN @ 100mbps full duplex over a Trendnet Router and Dlink Switch

Server: Windows XP Pro 64-bit edition
(AMD Athlon64x2, 3gb RAM, 256mbVram, 250gb SATA HD)
Client: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit edition
(AMD Tureonx2, 2gb RAM, 250gb SATA HD, shared Vram)

I've ran into something somewhat similar before, and it ended up being a problem with the video drivers on the host PC i think. Check the event logs on both client and server and see what exactly is flaking out.

I get this with one of xp VMs sometimes, reboot normally fixes it.

I may have found the problem. I am logging in using the Main "Administrator" account on XPP64 (I know the risks, I'm preparing to reformat so they're moot) and somewhere I read that RDC will not work with the "Administrator" account. Is this true or BS?

If it matters, I have no problems (minus slow speed) using VNC.

When you open Task Manager/List, is mstsc.exe still running, or is it completely gone?

If you do "netstat -aon" on the command prompt, do you establish a RDP connection with the appropriate listening port?
