Remote backup solutions

I'm currently checking out Transporter as an alternative to Dropbox for backup situations where I can have folders in a special folder (ex. dropbox has the Dropbox folder).

But, that type of solution won't work for part of what I'm backing up - multiple ~2tb drives. Also, these are for Logic sessions and samples, so I don't want it backing up real-time.. I want it backing up nightly.

What solutions are available for remote backups like this? I'm just looking for a system where I can select which drives to backup, and it will (on a nightly basis) upload changes to a remote location. Ideally with versioning too...

**I've been reading about WD My Cloud, but I can't find anything about if I can select a drive to back up entirely... I do know it will work with Time Machine, but I want to know if it can make a simple clone?

You looking for paid or free? And how much data?

I use crashplan. Their single system plan is unlimited storage size. It will do versioning (forget how far back it goes. You can set your backup schedule. Whole drives or specific folders, your choice.

It's around $50/ year for a single system (they have other plans for multiple installations on multiple computers). The only thing about them is the windows version of their software will not let you chose network locations to back up; this is a technical thing with windows; Linux and Mac don't have this problem.

I've been using crashplan for a couple years now. Works pretty well, but thankfully I haven't suffered data loss.

I'll definitely check that out. I'm specifically looking for solutions I can have in my own place. Although, those prices are pretty reasonable...

But, is there something like the Transporter but that let's you backup entire drives rather than just the things in a folder?

I'm not sure what you mean about backing up entire drives rather than just things in a folder? With most backup options, you can select an entire drive to back up--doing it on a file-by-file/folder-by-folder basis. Do you mean something more like making an image instead?

You can also run Crashplan software locally--without a paid account. If you need only a local backup program, or have your own cloud storage (not a commercial cloud) you can also use Cobian Backup (a free program)--it will do pretty much any type of backup you want. Differential, incremental, full, scheduled, realtime, etc. Full drives or select the specific files/folders you want backed up, along with filetype inclusion or exclusion.

I don't know of anything that's specifically for audio, though what Veydmic posted looks decent for that.

What I mean is, Dropbox for example uses the Dropbox folder. A few backup solutions I've looked at are like that - you have to put things you want on your cloud inside of a special folder on your computer. I'm looking to backup entire drives. I'll check out Crashplan. Thanks!!

Second crashplan! I had it configured on my 213j synology doing nightly backups. Worked a treat! :)
