I have a Vista Home Basic PC that I need to be able to access remotely via the internet. I don't need a full fledged interface, just drive access would be sufficient. I also don't mind installing software on the pc being used to access the Vista system remotely.

I remember a freeware program that would let you setup a virtual network over the internet, does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking for a no-cost solution, since I don't want to subscribe to some service for it.

It sucks that they didn't include Remote Desktop in Home...

Thanks!

LogMeIn Hamachi...

Or, you could make it a little more complex and use UltraVNC, but recently I've been using LogMeIn and it works very well for a free solution.

Remote access or VPN?

Two different things.

Hamachi I haven't had much luck with, myself.

But LogMeIn Free is great Remote Access software. Traverses firewalls wonderfully.
