Remastering knoppix

So...

has anyone attempted a knoppix remaster? I've attempted it half-assed but work kept getting busy at all the wrong moments.

I suppose, what I'm looking for is information on what tools you used and best yet, if someone had a list of "the bare essentials needed to get the thing to boot."

I've lurked on the knoppix.net forums, but its of limited use with a DVD remaster IMO.
