Reliable & quiet 2.5" HDD?

I have a 500GB SSD in my SFF desktop, and as I'm not getting a NAS anytime soon need to add some extra storage, so I can copy all the files from my old computer over.

I've had many 2.5" drives fail on me over the years (but only one 3.5" drive) but the SFF case will only fit a 2.5" drive.

Can anyone recommend a 1TB - 2TB HDD brand/model they've found reliable, and that's also quiet? Appreciate it won't be as silent as my SSD, but be a shame to spoil the otherwise-virtually-silent rig.
 
It sounds like the problem is not the drives reliability but the temperature inside your case causing harddisks to crap out on you!?
 
If you've had many 2.5" drives fail over the years, you may be more qualified than most people in determining what is reliable. I've personally never had a 2.5" drive fail, but I've only used them in portable/external drives and in a few laptops that were lightly used.

A lot of people really like the Samsung Spinpoint M9T, available in 1.5 and 2 TB.
 
What's it going to be used for? A 5400rpm 2.5" drive should be relatively quiet but performance will be "meh" at best.
