reliability of an LCD

I know plasma wears out after a while, but how does an lcd age?
 
but does the brightness slowly fade? or how does it end up dying?
 
LCD will die either but circuitry blowing or most likely the light finally dieing. Its just a fluorescent light in the back of an LCD.
 
Like all electronics, something will eventually fail, either the light or circuit or switch or whatever. You can't really tell today what will fail 5 years down the road can you?
