This is a stupid question, so feel free to flame away, but if you could squeeze an answer in, too - I'm just looking for a decent socket a motherboard that will let me tweak multipliers, voltages and such.

I assumed most would do this, and recently got a DFI NFII-400AL, and discovered otherwise...

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've got one, quite the quality motherboard, just make sure that if you're using a mobile professor you set the FSB, multi and voltage manually because the board can't detect those settings and automatically defaults them to the lowest ones available (and since the voltage goes as low as possible it'll usually result in a lot of problems, XP install kept freezing on me)

thanks for the quick replies! the shuttle's 57 bucks on newegg - which is ok, but if there's one for 10 or 20 bucks less that offers similar performance, I wouldn't turn it down

for perspective - the processor i've got right now is an athlon 1.3. I'm hoping to upgrade it fairly soon - it's the last component of my old system, but processors aren't getting cheaper right now, so I'm holding off. I've got good case cooling (dual 120's + a fan duct), and i'd be happy to acheive a mild performance gain...
