Relation between PSU and Games Freezing

I was wondering if there is a close relationship between a power supply and it causing games to suddenly freeze. How many of you have experienced this? I.E. changing a power supply fixed the freezing problem?
 
Could be software could be hardware..depends

Run a Prime95 Stability test on the middle setting under torture mode overnight to see if its possibly hardware problems.

quick solution to see if its software is reformat..

What are computer specs and the psu you have?
