dont know which section of the forums to put this... hope this is right :)

anyway, was wondering how i would do performance wise with an athlon64 3700+ san diego, dfi lanparty sli-dr mb, and geforce 6800GT running at 1600x1200 in battlefield 2... (high detail, aa, af)

on my current computer, im having a hard time turning details up at all at 1280x1024, but then again, my comp isnt that great..

and also, has anyone played the FEAR beta? i tried it out last night but i have to run at 640x480 (lol!) just to get rid of the constant skipping. this game has to be a lot more graphic intensive than battlefield. anyone know what i could push the settings to with my future build (mentioned before)?

HL2, D3, Fear and many other games are much more intensive than BF2. BF2 is designed to support 64 players in a single server and is meant to be easier on older systems ranging from 1.5 Ghz to the latest with at least an FX5200 to the latest. You can't expect this with Fear.

I do think 1600 x 1200 would be an acceptable resolution for that system specification, although at the cost of a reduction in AA or AF.

what would i have to upgrade to be able to play 1600x1200 full detail aa and af.. not sure what aa the 6800GT can handle..

Well, obviously, an SLI system. :p It would give you the most benefits if you're using AA/AF at high resolutions. And I believe the gameplay would be quite smooth, but that depends on how many players are drawn on screen.

Your 6800 GT is in other words, more than adequate.

Yes that system you have is actually very good. An upgrade is unnessary, so is a resolution that high. unless you use a big-ass monitor.
