Has anyone else purchased this combo recently? I am currently awaiting shipment of some new parts, two of which are a E6300 and P5B, and I am unaware if there are compatibility issues with the combination. I do not have another Intel CPU to sit in the board until I flash the bios (like many people are doing with the DS3), thus I hope there are not major issues.. I certainly didn't read of any.

Any experiences?

The p5b was designed for Conroe. You will not need a BIOS flash no matter what BIOS version ships with your board.

I have this board and an e6600 and it works great. Do not trust the temperature readings from any of the bundled software. The only program that gives me accurate temperature readings is core temp.

A recent bios update off the asus site provides support for it.

NO!!!!!!!!

Asus has only released a BIOS update for the P5B Deluxe to support that card! It does NOT work with the vanilla!

glad I got the deluxe :)

Time to save up

I read that teh P5B vanilla is limited to 400FSB and 2.1v on the vdimm. Has this changed?

P5B Release BIOS version 0309

3. Enhance overclock capability above FSB 500
4. Support jumperfree FSB to 650
