Refurbs

From what I hear, alot of there refurbs are cards people returned because they didnt OC good or just didnt provide the performance they wanted. They have to go to the factory and pass a certain amount of tests anyway. Sure some of them might kinda defective but from what I hear, Newegg refurbs are usually as good as it new.
 
I've heard some pretty good deals from refurbs. Most are just returned because the owner wanted something else or there was a box defect.

I have bought bunch of refurbished stuff from Newegg with no problems till I tried a couple of 9800Pro refurbished last year. First one was DOA which I returned same day and got refund.
Few days later I tried my luck with another 9800Pro refurbished from a differend brand and had serious artifacts at stock clocks. I returned it and got refund. Then I gave up with refurbished video cards. At least for the hot ones.
 
I've had mixed luck over the years with refurbished equipment. Here's what NewEgg says about theirs:
"Newegg.com does not test any product, including refurbished items. Refurbished components are therefore only tested by the original manufacturer. Due to the varying quality of manufacturer testing, YOU ARE TAKING A RISK BUYING REFURBISHED PRODUCTS. Fortunately, they have GREAT customer service, so if you DO get a bad refurb, they take it back with no problems, and are quick to refund on defective items.
