I am looking at getting new everything when I get back from my deployment in June and am shopping for a large display for my computer / home theater. (42in+)
I saw some good deals on sites like macmall.com for refurbished displays. Would yal recommend against getting one of these?

Read the fine print and see what the site's refurb policy is. I've always had good luck with refurbs from Tigerdirect, they state that refurb doesn't always mean returned and reconditioned, that old stock and discontinued items are often cleared out as refurbs. My "refurb" hdtv appeared to be brand new; if it was reconditioned, it was a perfect job.

Dell refurbish displays are usually are a good deal to go with.
