i just replaced my geforce FX 5900 with a radeon 9800 pro today and i think the refresh rate of my screen is lower. it was at 85 with my geforce, and i set it to 85 now, but it seems lower. did this ever happen to anyone? how can i check what my current refresh rate is?

usually there is a selection on your monitors onscreen menu that tell you refresh rate (you know where you go to adjust the width height etc.)

I think what is causing your problem is that you must not only set the monitor tab to the refresh rate you want but also the "displays" tab. Go into Displays pick your monitor and set the maximum refresh rate to 85. that should solve your problem.

This happened to me, also. It happens sometimes when a game crashes or something like that. Do you use Refresh Force? I did a complete shutdown and it usually works.

angrybusdriver: yeah you are right, my monitor's on screen menu had the refresh rate at 60.

paladin: thanks, worked great! that option wasn't there with the nvidia drivers so i didn't notice it.

What kind of monitor do you have? That seems unnecessarily high! Also, what resolution?

NEC MultiSync FE2111sb SuperBright Diamondron 22" . Windows Res is at 1280x1024 games vary from 1024x768 to 1600x1200.
