How will my monitor's refresh rate effect my FPS or Marks? When I upped my refrsh rate from 60Mhz to 75Mhz I got about 120 more points.

Is it really affecting it or is this just a test being different from time to time.
 
turn off vsync.

if its on your fps is limited to the refresh rate of your monitor.

and 60 hz!

i cant even game on 75hz. 85hz+ is ideal.
 
I had reformated and just forgot to change it then I did and its better so...

Edit: 85Hz makes my text blurry on my monitor..
 
Why is it that 60hz pisses people off? A lot of people say they get headaches from it. I never get a headache or anything from 60hz...
 
must be your monitor, 85 has always been fine. the higher the better. im on 90 at 1280*1024.
 
If u get blurryness from a higher refresh then ur monitor is crap because higher refresh is ALWAYS better for clarity and ur eyes especially! I run 100 hz @ 1024x768 on my dell (sony trinitron tube) monitor!
 
Actually I've been wrong I run at 72Hz 75 is blurry too. It gets more blurry every time I turn it up and my monitor doesnt even support anything past 85Hz.
 
Most peoples eyes are different. I see the screen flashing at 60hz when it has a white background and I do get headaches. At 75 its better and 85+ is pure joy for me :) But ya, I see a flashing screen at 60hz =/
 
LCD's dont technically have refresh rates knowing that the pixels never turn off unless you power down the monitor. the LCD pixels switch colors and dont turn off to change to a different color like CRT's do. since LCD's dont have to turn the pixels off they will never get a flickering when displaying an image. the flickering will cause headaches because it causes a lot of strain on the eyes. thats why more and more businesses are using LCD's instead of CRT's and they take up less space and generate much less heat and consume much less power also. LCD's speed of refreshing the screen is called the response time: the time it take s for the pixels to change colors. if the pixel cant keep up then you get what is known as ghosting which looks like a bad blur effect to everything.
