Previously everything was working. I reformatted my computer, but not before i backed up all my documents and things onto a western digital external drive. The reformat went smoothly. I installed service pack 2. (Asus p4c800e, p4 2.8c) everything else works. Except that my computer will not recognize the USB 2.0 External Drive....when not 24 hours ago it worked in the same usb port. I tried replugging it in, changing the ports and using a different cable but windows does not recognize the drice. Its not in device manager...even as a usb mass storeage. It doesnt exist under the disk drives, or disk management. I am not sure what the deal is. Because it still works in other computers just not my newly reformatted win xp pro.

So i found the problem well sorta. 2 cables i used just didnt work with it but i used one of those usb 2.0 gold ones and it worked....though that shouldnt mean anything. But as of now I am happy its working but if anyone has any insight into what the real problem is.....
