reformating two HDs

well i have a 40gig WD hard drive as my main hard drive and a 200 gig maxtor as my storage hard drive. i never reformated with having both drives so how would i go about reformating my 40gig WD that i use as my main drive without losing any info off my storage drive?

They're seperate drives/volumes...unless you tell it to wipe the Maxtor seperately it won't.

Why do you want to refrmat your system drive?
 
if you have windows you reformat usually every 6 mo. just throw in your XP CD, and boot off of it, wipe your 40GB completly, leaving along your 200GB, reinstall windows to the 40GB and when windows is done installing, the 200GB should just show up in My Computer unharmed, ive done it hundreds of times (more like 40-50)

lol... maybe because he uses windows. I reformat every few months to keep my system running good. I don't understand the question... why not?
 
exactly... i reformat my comp 1-2 times a year and now that i recently installed a new HD i wanted to make sure if i left my video editing clips on their i wouldnt lose them.. thank for yall help
