I usually go with XFX due to the double lifetime warranty, but from what I read their 6950's are not the reference design and are therefor not unlockable to a 6970.
Are there any manufacturers out there that are the reference design with lifetime warranty?

Visiontek also provides lifetime warranty, but from the reviews that I gather online, their warranty support is lacking. Some non ref cards unlock too,you just need to read reviews and user testimonials etc.

Are there even any reference design left? I was looking the other day and couldn't come across one.

You can't even find reference cards anymore, but as far as I know XFX is the only AMD AIB to offer a lifetime warranty.
