So, currently this PNY 670 card is selling for ~$280 AR, same price as the Sapphire 7950. That's $260 for either, with the v.me deal.

I... cannot decide between these. Some extra opinions would be great.

-I have no preference between AMD/nVidia. I've had both, no bad past experiences.
-I plan to overclock on air. Leaning towards the Sapphire, but no idea how the 670 reference hs/f will hold up.
-The games are merely bonus. Likely to play them, not likely to buy any of them seperately.
-I prefer bang for buck, and long lasting. I am currently running a 260GTX I purchased back in early '09. Similar price range, hope for similar (or longer) longevity.
-For reference, I upgraded the rest of my system last year to: i5 2500k (4.5Ghz), 8Gb 1600 Ram, Asrock z68 Ex3Gen3; runs on a Corsair TX850.
-Games I currently play: Crusader Kings 2 and Skyrim. Will play: Batman Arkhams, CoH2, ME3, and w/e comes with the chosen card. Likely others, but those are high up in my backlog.

Well, you'll have to wait for Newegg to get it back in stock at that price.

About PNY, though: They have a notoriously short warranty length for their cards. That card it looks like will get a 1 year on top of "lifetime". Sure, you get a "lifetime" warranty, but in their own words:

Lifetime is defined as the lifetime of the product on the market. Outdated technology is not covered by lifetime warranty if the item is no longer available on the common market as a new product.

So if you are fine with those terms, go for the 670. 670s run fairly cool with a stock cooler.

If you do look at the AMD side though, ignore the 7950. Look at the Boost version.

The 7950 I linked is a Boost (925Mhz) version; even listed in the link you gave.

PNY's definition of lifetime kind of sucks, yeah. But I haven't expected a lifetime warranty on a video card since EVGA/XFX dropped theirs.

Thanks for replying! The PNY being out of stock makes the choice a bit more clear. With the v.me deal ending on the 31st, I went ahead and ordered the 7950.

I was in the same situation you were a few weeks back and decided to go with the reference 670 from MSI. I then bought an Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo II to replace the noisy stock cooler, overclocked the card to 680 speeds, couldn't be happier :)

Another pickle for this meal...Newegg's out of bundle keys. >.> Maybe things will be in stock Monday.

Edit: And the PNY card is $310 after discounts now.

get the sapphire hd 7950 boost. the pny at newegg has gone upto 370 (330 after rebate). both these cards are similar at stock. when overclocked a HD 7950(1150 Mhz) will keep up with a GTX 670(1300 Mhz).

I would go for whichever card that has a non-reference cooler or get the 670 but replace the cooler with an aftermarket one. It makes a HUGE difference in terms of cooling and noise!

Yeah, instead of sounding like a jet engine its pretty much silent and it cools about 15-20 (C) cooler than before :)

:p
While I read that the reference coolers have gotten better, my 260GTX's reference cooler drives me nutty sometimes. Enough so, I never leave the system running now that I have an SSD lol.

I did get the 7950 w/game bundle ordered for the $261 price (plus cat6 cable heh). Now just to twiddle my thumbs til it gets shipped/arrives. ^.^

You should consider a 660Ti, some pretty good deals are going on when using v.me @ Newegg
nVidia is a solid choice for Batman physx.

I just picked up the reference eVGA 660Ti (RIP 5850 ;) ) for $210 AMIR + v.me ( + ass creed 3)

edit: crapola... card promo isnt running anymore :(

the 7950 with the never settle bundle is still a pretty good deal :)
