I purchased a dell R410 with a redundant power supply. I know that it balances the load and all, but my question is, can I just use one power supply and not connect the second one?

Thanks

Is it safe? There is no risk besides the fact there is no backup right?

I'm just wondering if they are design in a way that they need to both be running and plugged in. Thanks

If they both needed to be running, it wouldn't be very redundant, would it? ;)

It has to work in such a way that if one of the PSUs dies, the other one keeps running while the dead one is swapped out. For that to be the case, it must be able to run with only one of the PSUs present.

right that makes sense, but you can never be too safe! Thanks for the input.
