i am running xp home and i am noticing a lot of lag and slow downs either from my computer or my internet. i was wondering if it could be a virus etc. how can i reduce this lag? any programs?
 
This thread will get you on the way to finding out if you have spyware. These little programs can suck down a fast computer.

After you get done with that thread. Let use know what process you have running in the background. Then we can tell you what to shut off.
 
im runnign adaware and all spyware ad ware thingys have been removed
 
type msconfig into the run command
tab to startup

here you can remove excess programs from startup

aol and others have system tray programs that can slow your compurer to a crawl
