I've searched, checked reviews on newegg, which is tough as there always seems to be plenty of people with trouble on any router.

Well, I plan to replace an older D-Link DI-524 Wireless router, which has been stable most the time I've had it for several years. But it never did great connections to my living room on my laptop for a small 960sq. ft. condo. And my roommate that just got a new computer and the wi-fi usb adapter she got seems to be limited to 150k a second and I have 6mbs DSL.

Items that connect with wireless, a 360 using an official wireless adapter. The Wii has wi-fi built in. But I have a 20gb PS3. So I need a way to connect that to the internet with wireless.

From my searching, here are some candidates for a main router:

D-Link DGL-4300

ZyXEL X-550 Xtreme MIMO Wireless Broadband Router
http://www.buy.com/prod/ZyXEL_X_550_Xtreme_MIMO_Wireless_Broadband_Router/q/loc/101/202017574.html

The D-Link seems to be a favorite right now as a top router, but more expensive. The ZyXEL seems to be great for the price and performance. And while Compusa has it for $50 before rebates it's I'm sure it's tough to find. Though, Buy.com has it for $60 after google checkout, before rebates.

Aagin, the wireless will be used for a 360, Wii, PS3, Laptop, and a PC. Only thing wired is one PC. Plus I'd like to do Vista Media Center streaming from a wired PC to the wireless 360. (The current signal strength just falls under or hovers on the limit for TV streaming, making playback no totally stable)

I wonder, is the D-Link really worth the extra money for gaming and media center? Or does the ZyXEL work just fine?

Then I need help on what to pick to connect to the PS3 wirelessly

As a second thought, even cooler if a gaming wi-fi adpater for the PS3 would also double as something to boost the signal.

A candidate from searching here:

BUFFALO WHR-G54S
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833162173

Will that work well as an access point or bridge to a PS3, and maybe boost the signal? And if i got the expensive D-Link, would there be a special Gaming Wireless Adapter I'd need to get to take full advantage of its features?

There's also this for a good price right now:
Linksys 802.11a/g Wireless Gaming Adapter: WGA54AG
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...wireless+gaming&type=product&id=1099384406381

Or this:
D-Link DWL-G820 - Wireless Gaming Adapter, 802.11g, 108 Mbps
http://www.buy.com/prod/D_Link_DWL_...pter_802_11g_108_Mbps/q/loc/101/10375945.html

The above D-Link is a pretty nice price after google checkout, but some reviews at newegg worry me. But do any of those mentioned so far help boost the network range and strength?

Any advice would be great, thanks

IF you are going wireless, the get the ZyXEL. I have it and it works great. It has a strong signal and it can handle lots of data including online gaming and torrents. The ZyXEL also uses the same packet shaping software as the DGL-4300.

I am no sure about the wireless adapters except you would want to find something that uses the G standard. Forget the Linksys one because it does not support WPA encryption.

bump

ZyXELdoes seem like a good choice right not, but not too sure what to get for the PS3 still
