Reddit CEO Confesses To Editing Comments That Insulted Him

I'm not sure how this guy thought no one would notice this but, then again, no one claimed he was a rocket scientist either. Does this look like the face of a guy that would do something like this? Wait, never mind. Don't answer that. :D

Like a lot of forums, the moderators at Reddit have the freedom to ban or allow whatever post or account they deem unsuitable. But Reddit CEO Steve Huffman went a step beyond that recently when he directly meddled with comments that were critical of him. Instead of "f*ck Spez" (Spez is his Reddit username), he had edited them so that it would be directed at the moderators of The_Donald, a subreddit of Trump supporters.

Essentially, the idiot just opened up reddit for being legally responsible for all content with his actions. It opens them up to lawsuits as they can no longer claim protection under freedom of speech.

Funny thing, the posts he was editing and deleting all had to do with the citizen research being done into the Washington DC Pedo ring and their connections to Comet Pizza and Epsteins pedo island and Lolita Express plane.

I play on reddit from time to time... i have no idea what's going on with this story... but holy hell this guy could be on Hitlers Wheaties box for the master race going by his picture. lol

Holy Boardwalk Empire, Batman!

All anyone is talking about is how this guy is a childish, incompetent, douche that has just sent Reddit investors into a panic and needs to resign, but no one will talk about what really matters... like why this guy has two extra vertebrae in his neck.

We should edit his online alias to "Deep_Throat".

But seriously though, the problem is that he exposed that they have core database edit ability and that it leaves zero trace. People have been arrested and jailed for posts made in Reddit in the past which was used as evidence in court, but it brings into question if they really made the posts.

Did Hillary's IT guy really delete all his posts on Reddit or was it Spez? The FBI surely needs to know now. And we've had world leaders even posting on Reddit in the past, and think of the whirlwind it could cause if Spez went and edited a post Obama made after the fact that could spark an international outrage, especially since it leaves no trace of the edit. And when they were banning conservative posters and subreddits in the past for rule violations, did they really violate rules, or did they just edit a post or two to make it seem that way and ban/mute them?

They've destroyed any credibility the site had, and brought so much into question by exposing this, especially since one of their own people got fed up and leaked their chatlogs as well which shows all the social-engineering manipulation they have been doing and plan to increase in the future to deal with those pesky conservatives.

That's creepy. I wonder what his motivation was.

Personally, I've always hated reddit for some reason.

I was just on the PCMR subreddit, and there was a post where a guy with two young children was lamenting the fact that he finally got 30 minutes to himself to play a game...only to be confronted by Windows 10 updates.

Someone asked "why do you have kids if you want to play pc games?" I responded that some people like to live for others more than themselves. Instant downvotes and hostile comments about how I'm judging childless people(which I also happen to be).

Also, Reddit's spellcheck doesn't think "solipsist" is a word. Ironic.

The actual website is a fantastic data-gathering and community setup. Unfortunately, like all other social media, it was taken over by political extremists with no tolerance for differing viewpoints, which ultimately ruined it.

Except freedom of speech only applies to government. Any company is free to censor you from their service, read: Twitter.

The whole pizzagate was pure tinfoil trolling. They decided "cheese pizza" was slang for "child porn" and launched into an investigation themselves where they "verified" evidence with each other. Nothing supremely fucked up about that. Nope, not at all.

They dug their own graves by using reddit to doxx people offsite and then attacking spez, calling him a pedophile, for telling them to chill the fuck out.

Sometimes a cheese pizza really is just a cheese pizza.

I think you need to read what he wrote again. In the past, Reddit could say they are not responsible for anything illegal posted by their users, because they are only the platform. Now that they are editing the posts of users without a trace, you can no longer know if Reddit admins made the post or the end user. It will still show the IP address of the poster in records, true, but since core database was edited the actual content of the post could have been Reddit and not the end user. Therefor Reddit now cannot claim immunity and needs to be involved in any legal investigation as a suspect.

Is it fun rewriting history? They didn't decide that cheese pizza is code for child porn, its a well known fact going back at least a decade. They launched into an investigation because of a myriad of circumstantial evidence including the repeated use of cheese pizza and pizza in contexts that made no sense in the leaked hacked emails, just like investigative reporters used to do in the past. Since the media are now unofficial branches of political parties, we rely on the internet and whistleblowers (again via the internet) to unearth these things.

No single person was ever doxxed on Reddit, because they know what the rules are and didn't violate the rules accordingly. What some loosely knit individuals investigating this do outside of Reddit has nothing to do with the subreddit.

You are also conveniently confusing the order of events. The "fuck Spez" comments came AFTER spez shut down the pizzagate subreddit, not before. So how could attacks that happened AFTER the subreddit was already shut down by Spez be the reason the subreddit was shut down? Pretty stupid logic, right?

Except now spez's admitted actions give anyone a legit argument of "Was it them doxxing people and they got shut down for that, or was it the admins editing their comments to make it look like they were doxxing people so that they could shut them down with that excuse?"

Plus, as stated, reddit posts have been used in court as evidence. That's thrown out the window now as any authenticity of any given comment's content can not be verified/can be disputed as 'the admins changed it in the DB, wasn't me'.

Holy crap, my "job" is the internet for the past 16 years and I had no idea....

I guess you learn something new every day.

Look, there is a lot of tinfoil involved in the pizza thing, but cheese pizza and other code words are often used in pedo chats. That's a known. What is also known is Podesta had a LOT of emails referencing pizza that seemed like the word was using in odd context or out of place. Here is the Wikileaks stuff about it. Like I said, grain of salt, but something weird is going on.

Urban dictionary from 2010, but IIRC it goes back at least to 2008 IIRC.

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, so witch hunting is a legitimate concern, but if people can't investigate then the truth can't come out. That's the rub.

Yep. What he did really opened up a can of worms and breached the perception of trust in the evidence. Utterly stupid move on his part.

And you work for correct the record.

There are tens of thousands of people working on this and proving verified links that are being covered up.

Anyone who just does 20 minutes looking into it seriously, can verify that it's real and that people have died looking into this, Monica Peterson being just the latest.

Of course, feel free to gaslight the forum.

Pedo Lizard Person, obviously.

Because anyone who doesn't immediately believe the most flimsy "evidence" has to be a paid shill?

I reserve my discussion for people who are mature enough not to engage in the same things they accuse others of. By immediately claiming that I work for correct the record without providing any proof whatsoever.... and also not providing even one of the "verified links" that you claim is being covered up... is pretty much the exact definition of gaslighting.

You claim it's right there. Prove it.

Sometimes a cheese pizza really is just a cheese pizza.

And sometimes people in positions of power, like Jerry Sandusky and Jimmy Savile and the plethora of convicted sex offenders in Hollywood documented in "An Open Secret", really do commit horrible atrocities behind closed doors. To dismiss allegations like this as "tinfoil" is to be ignorant of current events.

You are missing the point that the person you quoted was trying to get at. That isn't freedom of speech. What you stated is true, and is probably what the original poster meant, however you guys are using the wrong term.

If I made the statement that the police can't just come into my house and start looking around without a warrant because of churning butter, does that make any sense or make for a valid statement? Even if I explain it as police need to have a valid reason or see something that indicates that something illegal is occurring to enter my house doesn't mean that churning butter means the same thing as probable cause.

The right to free speech means that the government can not prevent a person from communicating their opinions or ideas. Meaning you can't go to jail for supporting Clinton now that Trump won the election, nor can you go to jail for saying Trump will be the worst president the USA ever had. Which is what the person you posted to was trying to get at, the incorrect term is being used here to describe the protection they had before. That isn't what freedom of speech means. Even the other side of that which is freedom of the press just states that the media outlets have the right to post news / stories without having the government preventing them from telling the news or voicing opinions. Which doesn't apply here either.

I honestly don't know what term is correct to be used in this case. Protection against libel is about the best I can think of. If they are just the platform they can claim they are not a "press" outlet and thus do not control the stories that are posted and as such can't be held for libel if a user was to post something however by them editing post as you said they have know shown that they could have been the ones making a story say something that the person didn't actually post.

The only safe person to trust your kids around is their priest.

At least here, if you call a moderator an asshole they will call you out on it before banning your stupid ass. That way there is a record.

I will give you that they edit them in a way that says it was last edited by Kyle or who ever but they do at times just out right delete post with there being no record then as the post is just gone.

That said that is different than them editing the database directly to change what a person said. So we are looking at a difference in actions here which is what you are trying to point at with your comment.

Its nothing but an investigation at this point, but I am very happy that someone, I don't care who, is actually looking in to these things. We can't rely on the press, so we need whistleblowers and hackers... that's just how things are now.

What we do know with certainty is that John Podesta and several people at the top of the Democratic party engage in witchcraft.

I'm all for religious freedom, but frankly that is just weird and out of touch with the American people they are meant to represent.

Here, btw, is the thread in which they discuss watching child porn as part of their investigation. And complain about how 'possession' is a fucked law. Yes. Complaining about not being able to possess child porn.

Rather than reporting ANYTHING to the agencies who are specifically staffed and trained to deal with this sort of stuff, they openly talked about how they want to send child porn to each other so they can "investigate" it.

Think about it VERY thoroughly before you come to the defense of these people.

I see what you are saying, but if the "proper authorities" cannot/will not investigate then someone must do it.

These guys in this supposed child sex ring have so much far reach power its inconceivable that any "proper authorities" will properly investigate the matter. Hell, you can look at the FBI's investigation of the Clinton emails as proof of this.

EDIT: I agree with you though that a large number of these pizzagate "investigators" themselves are pedos or into child porn.

The bigger issue here is the self selected people who decided they're going to "investigate" this based on tenuous connections that ALSO apply to Donald Trump... but are completely ignoring that. Epstein and Trump are just as much of a thing as Epstein and Clinton are.

When Trumps emails get leaked talking about Cheese Pizza Parties, Handkerchiefs with maps on them, Spirit Cooking, etc then I am sure that will be investigated then.

Its a fact they are speaking in code. Normal people do not talk about "Cheese Pizza", "Pizza" maybe but not "Cheese Pizza", and certainly not on so many occasions. Same for "Handkerchiefs".

What we don't know is what "Cheese Pizza" (and the other terms they use) actually means.

I agree that their fascination with pizza is odd. But my hope is that it's code for something like a coke & prostitute party and not child related. When you're rich and have everything, I can imagine you might acquire vices (thinking Eyes Wide Shut costume orgies). It's long been speculated of Hollywood having a darker underside, seems it's possible it might spread to more of the rich elite.
