I have an 8800GT Graphics card on a Abit IP35 Motherboard. I was playing counterstrike the other day and the game ended up freezing and red squiggly lines ended up all across my screen. I powered down and rebooted. When windows loads after the reboot it happens again. I powered off again and tried to log in safe mode, it wouldn't boot, it would freeze at the screen with the red squiggly lines across it again. Frustrated I use Ultimate Boot Disk and wiped the drive because I couldn't get any part of the OS to load to troubleshoot the problem.
During the vista install it happens again but it doesn't freeze so I was able to install. I look at the device manager and it says that my 8800GT wasn't recognized nor was the monitor and i had "Error Code 43" in the status window. I try to install drivers but it says it cannot find my 8800GT so the install fails. Monitor drivers can't find the monitor either while I'm trying to see past the squiggly lines.
Any thoughts? Me and my friend are stumped as to what the problem would be. I'm thinking it may have fried but don't really want to spend a whole lot on a new graphics card
