Releases August 30th

I am very surprised and disapointed that I don't see mention of RO2 here on [H].
This game is a PC gamers dream so far, from what they are trying to include in the game.

VAC and Punkbuster, Mod Tools, 64 player support, dedicated servers, extensive admin controls to allow for different server configs, did I mention it's made for PC.

Has the potential to be a really good FPS game.

Hm. While I am not advocating making redundant threads, for this game I say let it slide. ;)

It needs the attention - despite being a PC exclusive and delivering on what a lot of [H]er's have been complaining about in many of the ports we've getting, it still hasn't generated the amount of attention that it's due.

I hope this game is a smashing success.

You know I have to say, I have roughly 100 friends on steam, I have talked to several and non of them have ever heard of this game.

With BF3 coming out, this game is doomed for failure.

Sorry but it is so.

* let the optimistic non-realist commence.

Sorry but you are wrong. If they have never heard of the game then they are not really the target audience. This game really is in a different league then BF3 (for better or worse) so its hard to even compare it along side it. The people who really enjoy playing BF3 will probably not enjoy RO2 and the other way around.

RO2 won't sell 1/10th what BF3 sells. It might not sell 1/100th. But, unlike BF3, RO2 doesn't need to sell 5 million units to be profitable. It didn't cost $50 million to develop and another $30 million to advertise.

RO2 will probably earn back its development and ad budget through pre-orders.

Something I haven't seen yet is more details and footage of the vehicles. Not that it really matters in the end as I have already preordered.

So some maps are just for vehicles?

Yes, mainly because teh tanks are done at detail that people who know how to use the optics, etc can use them at a VERY long range. so the all-tank maps are huuuuuuuuuge compared to infatry/mixed maps. It just isn't fun to play a tank map as an infantry guy becuase of the distance you'd have to go around on foot.

Those maps are mainly for the tank fans. There's still mjixed maps (tank/infantry both) that are smaller.

I will play both this and BF3, I support them both. Cant wait to play I have been waiting for so damned long.

When ever I see new games that offer Mod Tools I just get this little bit of hope thinking that maybe that game will be the next quake or HL in terms of having huge mod communities. I am slowly gaining interest for this game. I really hope that it does grow to be something bigger than RO1 and can bring some fresh breath back into PC FPS.

RO2 is GAMEPLAY focused. Not interested in pandering to the console bitches at all. Maps will be huge, vehicles all over and yes by God, MODDING!!!

Only game I have pre-ordered in recent memory.

RO had some great mods, they even took some under their wing and already have some major modders working on mods for RO2 now.

A mod in development that looks great is Rising Storm:

They are even getting some help from Tripwire with it.

I am not usually one to pre-purchase games, but this one might be the exception.
