I just bought a Samsung 712N montior from Best Buy, and It has a red dot. Does this mean that a pixel is out? I recently took back one because it had the same thing, so is this normal or what? Its starting to piss me off to the point that im about to say Fu(k best buy and this montior, but i want to know if you guys know if this is normal. Maybe the 3rd time is the charm.

Grrr..... I really hope this time works... I really do not want to have to take it back again lol. I mean its not a big deal but its gay going back to best buy all the time lol.

could it just be a "missfire"? So far, there have been two spots on my lcd that were red pixels. They just stayed red no matter what I was doing. But the next day when I used the computer, those spots were back to normal. Just something strange...

I dunno when i pulled the montior into the computer, it was there the 1st time i booted it up. Its still there so I dunno. Im going to take it back tomorrow and hopefully the 3rd time is a charm.
 
dead or stuck pixels are pretty common. You are lucky that they let you exchange it. Some places, like newegg, only let you exchange it if you have a certain number of them.

Yup, it's called "Factory Warrantee".
 
There is sometimes a quick fox for this, but it doesnt always work and it might kill more pixels around it ....

get a damp cloth and press it firmly against the red dot. It may fix the problem or it may make pixels around it worse. Then you'd have good reason to send it back ;)

LOL thats not a bad idea... I'll try that tonight and if it gets worse ill just take it back tomorrow like i planned
