I been hearing taht red cathodes appear pink. Is this true? I was trying to create a contrasting look to my PC since the case is blue and i have 1 blue cathode, but will it be pink? if it is then ill have to go with a diff color

I just posted the following in another thread............

I have read this kind of complaint so many times that I have lost count, and it has nothing to do with the manufacturer of the CCFL. Every "red" CCFL I have seen, out of the box, was pink or orange, most were pink. The best thing I can suggest to you, has already been posted here in this thread. Go to your local auto parts store, and buy a roll of two inch wide brake lens repair tape. This should cost somewhere between 3 and 5 dollars. Cut a length of the tape as long as your CCFL is long, and wrap it around the CCFL lengthwise. Depending on how pink your CCFL is, you might want to wrap it a second time to get a better red. You will lose a slight bit of brightness, but the end result will be a true red CCFL.

Buy a different color.

I used taillight tape, as suggested by other forum members, but it has peeled off.

Then, I had a little brainstorm. I do vinyl graphics. Why not use red vinyl? I went 1 step further, and used ultra-metallic red, and man, what a difference!

Here's the color I used:

I actually have a red CCFL that is a true red.

The trick is to buy one where the acrylic tube surrounding the cathode is dyed red. I can't for the life of me remember where I bought mine, though.

Just use a different color. Lots of people always combine red/blue. Try blue/green, or blue/orange would look great.

Yes, how would blue/orange look? I dont like blue/green :) oh and btw i alreayd have blue LED fans (6 of em) and a blue case so i want something to stand out nicely

I was suggested to use that red repair tape, Funny thing that is when i first bought my red ccl it was LIGHT PINK and now its kinda dark pink, Imma leave it on over night and see how dark it will get :), But going to Ace Hardware tommorow.

ya im having trouble locating some tail light tape here, my city is wierd no auto stores here short of a 25 min drive... so what do u guys think of that LED light over the cathode? WILL that be BETTER?

they are red (since they are just 12 red led's)

but they arnt terribly bright and they are somewhat directional

Skip the red cathodes and buy 3 or 4 of the red Lazer LED's. I have 3 sets in mine and it lights up the inside of the case quite nicely and they are a deep dark red. I bought mine from www.svc.com and they were only around 3 bucks each for a total of 9 bucks... almost as cheap as 2 of the "pink" cathodes.
