Well I came home for lunch today and was dazing off the front porch at difrent things when a beautiful blue jay flew up and landed on the railing. ON SNAP.. i run upstairs to get the Rebel.

Come back down with 70-210 F/4 attached and he's gone :( A few seconds later a Red bellied woodpecker lands.. very pretty he'll do. Snap a few and try opening the door for a closer shot. He flies off, a few minutes later he comes back.. same thing. I played this game for a lil bit before I gave up lol.

Without further ado, here are the shots. You can see some blurryness, i think its from shooting thru the door glass, or my shaky hand.

Pretty nice shots, though I think that last one is a bit over-saturated. The red is definitely blown. Regardless, they're certainly better than the ones I took of birds this weekend. I saw a red-winged blackbird and a dove of some kind. My shots were against an overcast sky, so my only option was to massively overexpose the sky. Even doing that, I didn't get nearly the detail you have in these.

Anyway, nice work! Hopefully the blue jay will be back. :)

Nice shots. Too bad about shooting through glass though - I hate windows. It aways kills dynamic range and muddies my pictures.

These are much better than what I can do with my 85mm prime lens. The birds fly off when they're not even large enough to cover much in the frame. :( But it's a fun game they play :p

Here is the best bird pic I've been able to get of a bird so far. I guess I was lucky it decided to fly when I took the picture. This is down to 65% of what I cropped it to:

Though I'm not completely sure what it is because I don't pay attention to ID'ing animals...

Edit: Mine appears to be the same bird as HPK's...

Yep, the last one might be a big over saturated. Honestly I didn't know what kind of bird it was, i asked at FM forums. I thought it was a female blue jay.

Thanks for the complemnts!

Well i no more and posted that and went down stairs. Guess who was back!! The Blue-Jay! This time I got him and his buddies. There must of been 3-4 that would come up at a time. What they are doing is getting dog food from the dish and running off with it ;) Here is a few of the Blue-Jay then one of the Female Red Bellied Woodpecker, the above was a male.
