Recovering Data From Hard Drives

I have two hard drives, one 3.5 and one 2.5 that I'm trying to copy data from. I am using a SATA to USB adapter to do this like I have done several times before.

Both of these are not cooperating though. When plugged into the computer via the USB to SATA computer it pretty much gets stuck at detecting the drive and won't get past that. I can hear the drive spinning though and the computer detects the USB to SATA bridge.

At one point I remember sticking a drive in the freezer overnight and that helped. Worth a try again? Anything else?
 
I've had the freezer trick work repeatedly with some drives - worth a shot again. Got annoying towards the end, though, where it'd only work for about 15 mins a pop.

You could always try an internal port to see if that makes any difference, or using a different OS (Ubuntu live CD etc.) too - you never know.
