Well, my moms hard drive crapped the bed recently, sounds like the reading arms went bad, makes a clicking noise. Is there ANY way to get this thing to at least work enough to let me get some data off of it? anything at all... theres some important things on here that she really needs. Thanks for any input.

crapped the bed? who made up that saying??? haha

My laptop hd died once, it started making a strange clicking noise. I gave it a rest for a couple days then turned it on to see if it would work and it did just long enough transfer some files to a friends computer to get it back. So you might get lucky and it will start working briefly again.

I contacted some data recovery firm thinking I could get some stuff back that way...but that costs up towards $10,000. But there's really not much you can do about mechanical failures unless you get lucky and it kinda fixes itself.
