Recording software question.

Can anyone recommend good recording software besides FRAPS for recording video on the desktop?

http://sourceforge.net/projects/camstudio/files/CamStudio/CamStudio 2.0/ try this and set the default recording device on your PC to the built in stereo (usually hidden and will let you record any sounds on your PC).

Fraps doesn't do desktop recording, only in game stuff.

CamStudio is... meh. Way to much work to get a nice looking video.

I use ScreenToaster now, MUCH easier to use.

Wrong. Fraps does do desktop recording in Vista (and soon Windows 7).

Interesting, I have never seen that feature and have always had it installed... Not that that contributes to this thread at all as he doesn't want to use it.

Cam studio is iffy at best on anything but XP.....a lot of times it wont work in Vista/7.

You could give Windows Media Encoder a shot.
