Hey there fellow [H]'ers, I was hoping you could help me with something.
As a senior (2nd year) member in our Video Production class, I have a lot more say in what goes on in the yearbook, and how to do it. Anyways, today I had the great idea that we could record sound from the PA system to a hard drive, and then I had the even better idea of asking on [H]ardForum how to do it (I admit, I love this place). I don't know too much about it myself, but I'm sure there is some way to do it, right?
The application of this is pretty obvious. I would like to be able to record from the sports announcer's mic during our football, basketball, soccer, etc. games. Or maybe record audio from a mic during a school assembly. Hey, on that note, maybe we could record concerts and such in the auditorium.
Anyways, I was wondering how this would be done. I'm looking for a solution that allows us good quality sound, without reducing the quality of what goes over the PA system. Hopefully it can be fairly inexpensive. Also, I'm not sure if we would use a dekstop or a laptop, so please suggest a solution for both.
I think you all get what I'm saying. If you know of a better way to do this, please tell me. Note that our high school is not rich, but we do manage to get quite a bit of money because we do an awesome job in video production class. If it costs a lot of money for something like this, maybe you could give me reasons to help justify it to the teacher
