*saw a post like this a while back*

First off this is my case Thermaltake Xaser III v2420a

http://www.thermaltake.com/xaserCase/xaser3/v2000a.htm

As you can see theres not much i can do with an internal system cause most kits use 120mm fans so im looking at external kits.

Ive heard good things about the Koolance Exos kits but since its mounted on the top, the fan hole on the top blocks it. Im not sure if i can take it out or not..

Another thing what is the difference between the Exos 1 and 2. and How loud does the 3 80mm fans compared to the Exos 2's 2 120mm fan.

Im also looking at the Thermaltake Bigwaters (external version is supposed to come out soon). My budget is from $200 to $300. im planning to only add my x800xtpe and my 3.2 prescott in the loop only. The water block for the x800 can wait but im planning to OC both.

Intel 3.2E Prescott
ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe
Corsair XMS CMX512-3200
ATi Radeon x800XT PE @ 550/580 with ATi Silencer 4
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
Western Digital 120 IDE
Western Digital 250 SATA
4 Vantec 80mm Vantec Tornados
3 Vantec Spectrums

the reason i want a watercooling kit is to overclock and i dont like waking up to four tornados blowing right next to my ear.

You can always go to some place like Sharka Corp and ask them to make you up a kit that uses 80mm fans. Shouldn't be any more money.

Well the EXOS cases actually stand off the surface so much. Now whether that would be enough I can't say. Call or E Koolance and ask them. Or you could put on some thick rubber feet and the problem would go bye bye. :D Koolance has the EXOS I currently on blow out clearance for $180 with warranty. The main difference between the EXOS I and II is that the second version has a 3/8" radiator and tubing. The gotcha is that they only make a 3/8" CPU cooler. All their other coolers are strictly 6mm (1/4") ID...so to compensate they suggest running parallel lines after the CPU and going back to a 3/8" tube before returning to the external unit.

Well with $300 how about this system: An Asetek kit though it comes with the 120mm fan/rad combo. However, I'm sure Wes wouldn't have a problem with swapping out the 120 combo for a dual 80mm combo for about the same or maybe a few more $$.

If you can, dish out the cash for the EXOS II, then buy new blocks for VGA/Chipset. That would probably work better then running parallel lines.

I myself, wouldn't go with the 80mm fan rads. I hear they are really restrictive and don't work as good as 120mm fan rads. I myself wouldn't know this first hand, so you'd need to ask someone who has experience with stuff like that

buy an EXOS AL the are almost just as powerful as the exos II but are smaller and cheaper and arent loud by any means. Also the exos al is a 1/4in system so all the current koolance blocks will work

ok i just took a look at my case right now and i saw that the top part can be taken out with screws. For sure i can use Exos now = )

How loud are the Exos- AL?? are they much louder than the 2? and how great are the performance differences?

i dont get what your saying there. What do you mean by running parallel lines?

btw since the koolance kits dont come with waterblocks, what are good ones? i like the thermaltake ones because they have leds ( corny yes lol). And for the gpu water block i really like the koolances because they cool the ram also.. however they are more than half of the cost of the kit at 140...

the performance difference between the exos AL and the exos II is nill, as well as the sound differences. Also since the exos uses an aluminum radiator you CANNOT use pure copper blocks because the copper will cause the radiator to corrode. Therefore about that only blocks that are 1/4in and dont expose the copper to the cooling loop (they are gold plated) are the koolance blocks.

ok im definately gettin the Exos-AL then. What cpu waterblock would you reconmend? im looking at the Thermaltake one right now for $40 at newegg

oh sorry didnt quite understand your first post = P

are there any others that are cheaper? 60 is kinda alot to spend..

well you can probably find it for cheaper elswhere but koolance is going to be the cheapest for a plated block

Where did you guys get the data that shows the EXOS II running on par with the EXOS I? Not that I don't think that either unit is good because I was going to buy the EXOS II before they lamblasted me with a $350 price! And I have an EXOS I as well. :)

That bottle of coolant pictured above is going to get in serious trouble with the US Dept of Consumer Affairs and the FDA. That is downright dangerous to market a bottle of deadly poison that looks an awful lot like a bottle of water or soda.

If you add some of the Aqua Computer AC fluid in a 2% mixture with 98% distilled H20 their will be no corrosion problems unless you have aluminum and unplated copper sandwiched next to each other.

For the money the Koolance CPU-300 style blocks are about the best you are going to get! High amount of surface area to dissapate heat and create lots of turbulence. However, my next block for my EXOS I is this Aqua Computer Cuplex XT.

how do you figure...the 720 series has the same radiator same pump same fans same EVERYTHING as the exos 2

That 720 series review is the EXOS II inards, but if you carefully review the article you will see why they said that the 720 series was on par with the EXOS I Aluminum unit. It was because they exausted case air through the radiator. They also went on to say that a newer style EXOS would not have the same problem and probably would have performed far greater than it did. They knew about the EXOS II at the time, but didn't mention it because it hadn't been officially released yet. Actually the EXOS II has been quasi-reviewed on this same forum both pre-production and post-production and others have reported it on par with many BIB units sold today. Besides the change to 3/8" ID they also increased the pump outpout form 1 liter/minute to 2 liter/minute and ditched the three 80mm fans and went with two 120mm fans.

ive seen other reviews (cant remember where) that said the exos 2 was not worth the upgrade over an exos al.
