reconditioned printer cartridges

I know the printer manufacturers want you to use brand new same-name brand cartridges (ink, toner) but was wondering what everybody's opinion was on this topic...

Are the refill kits and re manufactured cartridges as good as new? Does it really matter or are the printer vendors just out to make more green?

Any horror stories about using reconditioned ones?

well the main problem would be the quality of the ink, if the ink is not good, well you could get your inkjet printer´s nozzles clogged
