So I picked up a recon3d just to try it out really, and it's been ok but it does some odd things.. sometimes during games the weapon sounds are all muffled.. the positional audio is great, but overall, it doesn't exactly blow my skirt up.. not that I wear a skirt, but uh, you know what I mean..

Anyways, is the soundblaster z that much better? I was thinking about going back to my old x-fi extreme music.. I rarely use headphones any more so I just want something reliable and decent sounding... I tried on-board and was disappointed... just weighting options.

If you still have a free PCI slot, that isn't a bad option. The Recon3d series was in no way an upgrade over the X-Fi series.

I do have one and it would also allow my top video card to breath better... Might just go x-fi again. Thanks!

Ps: speakers are Logitech z-5300
