Hello,

System specs:
AMD64 X2 3800+
8800GT
2 gig memory
500W power supply

I have an AMD 64 3700 running right now, and it works with everything else.

I ordered a X2 3800+ and now the computer won't start up. I've installed it several times, turned the computer on and off several times to try and see if it works.

I'm thinking it's either DOA or I need more wattage.

What do you guys think?

If you think I need more wattage, how much should I upgrade to?

What motherboard are you using? What PSU is that, what is it rated for on the 12v rail? 500w should be enough sounds like a mb issue.

A 500 should support all that and then some..

I think you better check out that chip or the motherboard.. one is incompatible with the other OR DoA...

I'm looking at the user manual and it says that it supports AMD64 X2 processors.
My CPU is also a 939 socket and fits fine, no pins bent or anything.

I did buy the mobo a year and a half ago, though.
Seems to work just fine to me.

i think u could get by with a 430watter from antec, so long as it is from a major brand
