Recommended ESXi/Hyper-V/Windows 2008r2 Build

Hi,

I'm looking to build a server capable of hosting 3-5 VMs running database, server products, and some heavy computation. Possibly also want to run a VM for WHS and/or firewall. I'd like the hardware to be compatible with ESXi, Hyper-V, and win 2008r2 so I can choose what I want to run. I'd like to build to be in the $1500-2500 range and to have at least 3 TB of storage. Any suggestions? I don't really know VMs well so i'm unsure how powerful a box is needed to run 5 VMs...

Check out the specs of spideresx in the storage showoff thread.

The biggest determination will be the hardware on the ESXi whitelist.

Perc5i + PCI-E motherboard(prolly AMD on the cheap) with a decent onboard NIC should do it.
