I'm looking for some suggestions on a decent DSL Modem. I have never setup DSL before (only cable) but I'm getting it set up this Thursday. I'm looking for a decent DSL Modem but I'm envisioning my network to work like this.

DSL Modem - > Wireless Router

and later upgrading it to DSL Modem -> MoCA style setup w/ additional wireless router.

I have an old Buffalotech DDWRT router that should work well enough for my wireless needs, but I'm unsure of what would work well for DSL modem or MoCA router.

I despise netgear's consumer products if that helps.
 
your dsl should come with one. you should be able to either set it up as a router or to configure your router to use pppoe. I suspect that it will support both.

They wanted $100 for the modem so I thought it was a bit steep and decided to try n find one myself. Newegg has a Dlink I'm eyeballing.

Edit:L ended up going with the Actiontec GT701D seems the Dlink has some issues. Hope this works!

I've used a number of the simple Siemens SpeedStream 4100's. They're easy to put into "dumb modem" mode for hooking up to a separate router, seem to do ok performance-wise, and can be found really cheap on eBay (even brand new). I think someone here stated that they tend to sync a little faster than some other modems too, though that doesn't happen often enough for me to even notice how long it takes.
 
Bellsouth (AT&T) wanted to sell me a modem for $100 like the OP, but I convinced them that I would turn down their service if that was a requirement. I just wanted a basic modem that I could bridge/pass through mode so that my Linksys WRT54GL could handle the PPPOE and all my routing needs. Works SOO much better than their dinky setup.

They ended up sending me a rather pathetic Westell modem, but hey, it plays dumb just like I wanted it to!
