this holiday season, im looking to buy an LCD but im limited in budget (preferably $450 max with s&h) and i dont want my games to ghost. i was thinking of the dell ultrasharp 1905fp but ive read mixed reviews on whether its latency affect games a little or a lot. the dell 2005fpw and 2001fp are two ther possiblities but i dont want to run a high resolution. ive also considered some viewsonic LCds. the viewsonic vp930 seems good but i havent found many reviews or feedback on it. theres also the VX924 but it doesnt allow much adjusting, i at least need to adjust the height. which of teh afore mentioned LCDs would u recommend? or is there a different brand i should look at?

recommended 19" LCD for gaming

use the search function or take a look at the numerous other threads - no joke, a new which lcd should i buy thread pops up every few hours.
popular around these parts are the 2005fpw and 2405fpw from dell. appearantly they have good enough response times for most, plus a good selection and inputs (not to mention the coupons you can easily find for dell products).
personally i'd look for a good 8bit panel as they produce about 500,000 more colors than 6-bit panels (i think, at least i've always seen is stated X.2 vs X.7 million colors). they typical have higher response times - but they're getting quite fast as well.
behardware.com has some great reviews, and for fun check out tomshardware and anandtech - they also have some good display sections.

I recently ordered the Dell 1905fp and am slightly regretting it based on reviews. It hasn't arrived yet so I don't have my own review, but it definitely has mixed reviews in regards to gaming/video.

i have a vp930b and love it. Its better than its older brother the vp191b, which is a great monitor. i play FPSs and think the games look great. HL2 looks great, Doom3 im playing right now with it maxed out and it looks great.

Go for a Samsung 940B, best deal right now for a 19" by far, 8ms response time, great contrast ratio/brightness as well. It will be perfect and its like 315 shipped from newegg after a small rebate. The only other thing for near that price would be one of the Viewsonics that has slightly faster response time, but I didn't like it as much. My only complaint with the Samsung was that it didn't 'look good' to me as far as appearance goes (not talking about anything related to picture... I mean the entire monitor itselft). But I'm a computer ricer I guess. If you care about looks, check out LG's. They're great monitors but on paper (numbers) they don't compare to the Samsung, and they cost a lot more.
The only reason I didn't get the 940b is because a good deal came up and I was able to get a Dell 2005 for only 50 bux more.
So to sum it up, buy the Samsung, you will be very very happy. It is IMHO, the best 19" out there right now as far as money, reliability, quality, and performance... it ONLY lacks aesthetics.
