I'm in the market for a new SATA RAID card, and I'd like some opinions.
I'm looking for a hardware SATA RAID card, PCI (NOT PCI-E), Just need it to support RAID 1 and 5. The PC that it's going into is currently using onboard sw RAID (NVRAID), and it sucks big time. I don't really care about the cost of it, since I'm not paying for it.
Would it be worth it to buy a new mainboard with an extra PCI-E slot, and get an Areca (it's an AN8)? I've heard good thing about these cards, but they only come in 64b PCI and PCI-E flavors. Speed isn't a huge issue, the apps that run on this machine are pretty small, but very important.
